Back to School Time is Upon Us!

The 30 Day Coloring Challenge hosted by Kathy Racoosin started yesterday. This will be my 2nd Coloring Challenge. We are to find at least 10 minutes each day for the next 30 days to color.  I worked on a back to school post card yesterday and today and finally finished it!

The Added Touch of Self Laminating Sheets

Jennifer McGuire suggested in her Post Card blog post that you can make your post cards look just like purchased ones by covering them with self laminating sheets. It was easy to do and it adds a nice touch.  This is my first try using self laminating sheets. The beauty of this technique is that you can use various mediums for coloring without worrying if the colors will run if the cards get wet.  This card was made using Copic markers. They are a water proof option.  This next post card was colored using Zig markers. They aren’t water proof so I will definitely laminate it.  I’m not happy with the way this post card turned out. I didn’t used watercolor paper. Instead I used 110 lb white card stock I wasn’t able to get the colors to blend and the coloring is very streaky.  Now that I know how to laminate my post cards I will now try using colored pencils.  It occurred to me yesterday that it would be helpful to add a list of supplies to my posts. I will start that with my next creatio

Happy Birthday #12 Bryn!

Our youngest Fish granddaughter turned 12 on 07/02/2021. She REALLY wanted a dog for her birthday (they already have 2) but that was out of the question!  Her parents would have disowned us 😀.  This is the closest we could get. She loved the card but wasn’t impressed!

Welcome to Your New Home

Our daughter and son-in-law recently moved to Knoxville, TN from Portland, OR. We are so happy they are closer! Making Post Cards while my knee heals is lots of fun!

Singing in the Rain

My goal is to do a Post Card a day until I’ve finished all of the ones I made ahead. I found out yesterday that our daughter and son-in-law moved recently so next up, a welcome to your new home card.

Thank your Jennifer McGuire!

Three weeks ago I had surgery on my left knee to correct a problem with a total knee replacement. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to go down to the family/card room for awhile so I tried to find things I could do during my recovery.  And then I found a post by Jennifer McGuire that showed how to make Post Cards!  She even provided the artwork for the message/address/stamp side of the cards. I printed several designs to color with Copic markers while rehabbing my knee. Here’s one of my first completed makes:

Violette’s 7th Birthday

Image
I designed this card for our 7 year old granddaughter, Violette. She has become quite the soccer player this year. Her team jersey’s colors are blue and white...hmm...white isn’t a color, right?  Oh, well.  I used distress inks for the background.  The soccer balls were made using my Brother Scan n’ Cut and the girl gnome die is from Simon Says Stamp.
